Environmental Scientist: a Job that Modern Society Crucially Desire

George Washington once said, “Agriculture is our wisest pursuit because it will, in the end, contribute most to real wealth, good morals & happiness.” Although modern society, especially Korea, seeks lucrative jobs such as Lawyers and Doctors, people should also be prepared to encounter potential environmental problems. Contributing one’s abilities and knowledge to assist our society, instead of oneself, will deserve more welcome than other jobs in the future. This job, environmental scientist utilizes their knowledge of natural science in order to raise the sustainability of the resources necessary for the future.

Just until last year, a myriad of people tended to neglect the significance of the environment. However, as COVID-19 emerged as one of the worst pandemic ever noticed in the history of the world, the demand for environmental scientists is burgeoning. In fact, this pandemic actually induced numerous beneficial factors for the earth, such as new freshwater in Venice, a decrease in carbon emissions, and wild animals roaming in the lock-down cities. Although it is mainly known that this pandemic is threatening the world, this report reveals how it actually benefits the environment. These instances depict the influence of humanity toward this planet, Earth, suggesting itself as the most detrimental creature.

From these, people now acknowledge their contribution to immense environmental issues such as Global Warming, Water pollution, and decrease in Biodiversity. It is then environmental scientists’ role to emphasize the needs of some care and prevent the world as much as possible. They must conduct a myriad of research for the ways to eliminate either the potential or ongoing hazardous factors to degradation of the environment. This research could include compiling of data, investigation of certain circumstances, and prediction of future effects.

조지 워싱턴은 말했다. “목표를 추구할 때 가장 현명한 목표는 농업이다, 왜냐하면 이것은 부, 행복, 그리고 도덕에 가장 많은 영향을 끼칠 것 이기 때문이다.” 현재 사회는 의사나 변호사와 같이 이익이 되는 직업을 추구하지만, 사람들은 곧 닥쳐올 환경 위험 요소들도 막을 수 있어야 한다. 미래에는 개개인의 이익보다 환경에 본인들의 지식과 노력을 투자하는 것이 더욱 촉망 받을 수 있다. 이 직업, 환경 과학자는 환경 보존에 본인들의 지식과 노력을 최대한 투자한다.

작년까지만해도, 많은 사람들은 환경 위험 요소들을 인지하지 못하고 있었다. 하지만, 코로나 바이러스 사태로 인해, 환경 과학자들의 필요가 급증했다. 이 전염병은 사실 환경에 큰 도움을 주었다. 캐나다의 새롭고 깨끗한 물, 이산화탄소의 급등, 그리고 야생동물의 도시안에서의 활보가 가장 큰 예시이다. 사람들은 이 전염병이 환경에 악영향을 끼치고 있다고 믿지만, 연구 결과는 오히려 환경에 좋은 영향을 끼치고 있다고 조사됐다. 이말인 즉슨, 환경에 해를 가하는 가장 해로운 동물은 인간인 것이다.

이것 때문에, 사람들은 지구 온난화, 생물 다양성, 그리고 물의 오염에 대한 본인들의 영향을 인지하기 시작했다. 환경 과학자의 업무는 이 중요성에 대해 더욱 멀리 알리고, 전 세계를 지키는 것이다. 그들은 잠재적이거나 현재 진행되고 있는 환경 위험 요소들을 제거하기 위해 더욱 공부를 해야 한다. 이런 공부에는 데이터 집계, 상황 분석, 그리고 미래 영향에 대한 예측 조사 등이 있다.
